Weetabix review

Looks like scrapple in a bowl! But, of course, it isn't scrapple because scrapple is a pork porridge and Weetabix is a whole-grain cereal.

Vanilla Fudge review

Wait? This isn't the band from the 70s???? What kind of sick joke is this? And have I reached 100 characters yet or do I have to stretch this gag out a few more words?

State and Main (2000) review

A classic Mamet movie with all the snappy dialogue, industry insides, and timing you come to expect from him. Philips Seymour Hoffman and William H Macy were true standouts in the ensemble cast.

Da Vinci's Inquest review

Along with Vancouver-based "Cold Squad," this was one of two great police procedurals chock full of damaged characters dealing with humanity's worst side. Not one to close each case neatly with a bow and ribbon, the bad guys didn't always end in jail, the good guys bent, broke and/or outright mutilated the rule of law, but in the end, each character had to deal with their own private "Heart of Darkness." It's really a shame it ended and morphed into the horrible Da Vinci's City Hall.

Down Periscope review

One of those movies that shouldn't have succeeded (it initially didn't at the box office), but still lives one because of its silly, enduring charm and loads of star turns (Rip Torn all but phoned in his role, Bruce Dern was his usual over-the-top self, and Harry Dean Stanton sorta snuck in).

Kitten with a Whip review

Imagine an acid trip where Lolita is on the run from the law, takes refuge at Humbert Humbert's house and throws a shindig. Then things get really, really out of hand. The ending was too neat and clean, but typical for the early 60s sensitivities.

Our Idiot Brother review

Pretentious NYC liberals upended by clueless stoner brother. Episodic and rather pointless. The only redeeming factors? Zooey Deschanel and Rashida Jones as a lesbian couple!

That's My Boy review

Is it me or have Sandler's movies become formulaic, bottom of the barrel infantile messes?? If it wasn't playing on the TV at the firehouse, I would've never bothered watching it.

Little Mosque on the Prairie review

I just stumbled across this show. Interesting concept. The show manages to take this somewhat hot topic and make a sitcom from the culture clash without touching some of the more controversial aspects of Islam.

The Words review

A great version of the question "what is the price of fame?" Well acted, but the three parallel plot lines became a little distracting and the Dennis Quaid/Olivia Wilde sub-plot seemed rather pointless in the end.
